The Enlighten Electric Company logo says it all: “Your Source for a Better Tomorrow.” Ray Wilford’s electrical service company has created a better, more secure future for his own family –as well as the families of his three employees. Mr. Wilford, a Navajo from the Farmington area, began his electrician career working for his brother, where he learned it takes more than technical knowledge to be successful. So when he decided to go out on his own, he attended a community outreach presentation where he heard about The Loan Fund’s services. In 2005, he applied for and received the working capital he needed to start Enlighten Electric. Over the past two years, Ray Wilford has built a strong, sustainable company, with a growing list of contracts for residential, commercial and industrial projects. And, many of his projects are for repeat customers. In fact, business is going so well, he recently signed a second loan to purchase a scissors lift and a small backhoe so he can work on more and bigger contracts. He continues to look for ways to make life better for his employees; he’s currently investigating how he can provide health insurance for them and their families – no small undertaking, as any small business owner knows. And, the company has done so well that he is now buying his own home, an outcome that is right in line with The Loan Fund’s goal of helping to build family assets. |
